For many of us May is the most beautiful month of the year. It is the time of the year when temperature is already warm, but not hot, the flowers and trees are blooming and everyone wants to escape in nature. In case you would like to visit France this May, I have another option for you. Instead of getting out in nature (or besides) why not attend a great French festival?

The French love the festivals and they really know how to celebrate. There are great events and festivals all round the country every month. In the following guide I will present you the best French events in May. If you find them attractive, make your packages as soon as you can! You will surely return home with a memorable experience.

International Garden Festival – the Loire Valley

The fascinating Loire Valley is with no doubt one of the most attractive tourist destinations in France. It includes extraordinary natural and cultural sights. The month of May makes the valley even more attractive for visitors with its fantastic International Garden Festival. For the lovers of gardens the festival is a must.

Beginning on the 24th of April and lasting all along May, this event offers great guided tours which take about 75 minutes. It can be attended every day from 9:30am until dusk. (April 2013)

The Night of the Museums in Paris

Ah…the beautiful Paris and its fascinating museums used in the same sentence…it surely promises something special. The event named The Night of the Museums in Paris is a must for the lovers of museums. This year it occurs on the 18th of May. Visiting the most interesting museums of Paris during night is with no doubt a unique experience.

May Day in Paris

In case you still don’t know where to go on May Day, I give you a great tip – attend the fantastic event May Day in Paris! Of course, it takes place on the 1st of May and it is extremely attractive for visitors. The Bastille is a perfect place to watch the lively parade passing through. There are lots of bars and restaurants open awaiting for the visitors.

Fête des Fromages – Lot

The village of Rocamadour hosts South France’s largest cheese fair named the Fête des Fromages. The beautiful village is situated in the Lot department and is famous for its fantastic event. The fair welcomes over 50 producers from numerous French departments who come to take part in competitions, tastings and other activities. The event can be attended on the 19th of May, from 10:00 until 17:30 and the entry is free. (April 2013)

Disneyland Turns 20! – Paris

It is not an annual event and it is not a May event, as it occurs from the 1st of April to the 31st of December, but I consider this month is the best time of the year to take the kids to Disneyland. Disneyland Turns 20! is with no doubt a great event and the little ones will surely enjoy every moment of the visit.
