France is the land of beautiful churches and cathedrals, there’s not question about it. Stories have been told about some of the most famous cathedrals in France (the Humpback of Notre Dame, for example), and people from all over the world come to see them. From severe and majestic Romanesque cathedrals, intricate Gothic constructions or to exuberant Baroque, French religious architecture has it all. Notre-Dame de Paris, Paris

Through its sheer size and massive amount of beautifully crafted details, there’s no way the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris could come second best on a list of the most beautiful cathedrals in France. Although Notre-Dame is one of those famous sights that you can see on countless postcards and souvenirs, nothing beats seeing this amazing building in real life. Take a walk around the huge building and peek at the gargoyles, then marvel at the beautiful interior decorations.

Rouen Cathedral, Rouen

Rouen is nicknamed the city of a hundred spires because of the huge number of churches and other medieval buildings, but the tallest spire of the all (and in the entire country) is that of the Rouen Cathedral. This spectacular building inspire the French impressionist painter Monet is several of this works. To truly appreciate the magnificence of the building, pop by during mass and listen to the echo of the voices on the beautifully decorated walls.

Strasbourg Cathedral, Strasbourg
