Are you a nature-lover willing to visit France? I tell you this holiday will be unforgettable. France is not only a land full of astonishing and unique cultural landmarks of which it is recognizable, it is also a country abundant in natural attractions. These sites include numerous mountainous areas, national parks and other protected areas, lakes, rivers, beaches and coastal regions and so on.

In some of the previous articles I have already presented you the best beaches of France, its most astonishing national parks, most beautiful lakes and mountainous regions. Below I will give you some useful information relating to the wildlife parks of France. If you love nature, you can not miss to visit at least one of them.

Parc de Thoiry

Perhaps the most important and most popular wildlife park of France is the Parc de Thoiry. It can be found west of Paris and covers a large surface of more than 300 acres. The fantastic park is home to about 150 species of animals. It is actually a safari park which is very attractive for visitors, especially for families and nature-lovers.

From Brown bears to hippos, from giraffes to zebras, from rhinos to elephants, the park is home to a large variety of wildlife. If you love animals, you will surely enjoy the visit in this huge park. On the ground of the park there is also a castle which can be visited, too. This month the park is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00. (July 2013)

Planete Sauvage

Situated in the southwestern part of Nantes, the Planete Sauvage is another great option for nature-lovers. This wildlife park occupies a surface of about 250 acres and is home to over 2.000 of animals which live in semi-liberty here. You can make unique safari tours in the park which will surely make an unforgettable experience. You can also spend a night in a safari camp during which you are accompanied by a guide.

Besides, there is a “Marine City” with dolphins and an imitation of a Bush village in the park. The safari trail is 10 km long. Visiting the wildlife park is with no doubt a remarkable experience. After the visit you can also have a delicious meal at one of the restaurants or you can buy some souvenirs. The park opens in March and closes in early November. It is usually open from 10:00 to 19:00. The opening hours slightly vary depending on season. (July 2013)

Zoo Parc de Beauval

The largest collection of wildlife in the country can be found in the Loire Valley. It is the fantastic Zoo Parc de Beauval. With more than 4.000 of animals including pandas and koalas, the wildlife park is extremely popular among visitors.

Of course, the major highlights of the park are the wonderful pandas which can not be seen in every wildlife park or zoo. The park is open from March to November. It usually opens at 10:00 and closes at 18:00, 19:00 or 20:00, depending on season. (July 2013)

Réserve Africaine de Sigean

Another immense wildlife park of France is the Réserve Africaine de Sigean located near Narbonne. The animals live in natural Mediterranean environment here. With about 3.800 of animals, it is a great visitor attraction of the area. From zebras to lions, from giraffes to hippos, from rhinos to antelopes, from Black bears to gibbons, you will find a very varied wildlife in the park. The park is open all year round, but the opening hours vary depending on season. (July 2013)
